Is Parent 1 be willing to be a Cabin Parent?
We consider this role one of the most important, challenging and rewarding volunteer positions. Please accept this responsibility whole-heartedly and with a sense of commitment for the safety and well-being of our children. We expect the volunteer to: supervise and monitor campers in the cabins between 9:30 PM - 7:45 AM for all nights of camp, sleep in the cabin with campers overnight (ladies only in girls cabin, gents only in boys cabin), familiarize yourself with campers in your cabin and make them feel comfortable i.e. introductions, learn names, conversations, assist counselors in helping campers get ready in AM and PM if needed, address campers concerns overnight, enforce lights out at 10 PM, and direct medical concerns to 24-hr on-call Camp Physician. Many children have difficulty adjusting to the camp environment (mostly on the first day), and require comforting and reassurance throughout the night. These issues are resolved quickly when they build a sense of trust in their "Cabin Mom/Dad." Please expect for campers to stay up later than expected. We recommend not volunteering for other responsibilities in the early morning or late evening. We deeply appreciate your assistance with this and love for our children.Feel free to direct all questions to Sharan Kaur (sharankaursingh@yahoo.com).
