There will also be time for parents to familiarize themselves with the campsite, meet counselors, and help their camper settle into his/her cabin. Counselors will be available to assist with settling the campers into their cabins as well.
Parents and volunteers who are staying at the site for the duration of camp will also be given cabin assignments and volunteer descriptions at this time.
All lodging is cabin-style bunk beds for everyone (campers, parents, volunteers, counselors).
7:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Dinner for campers, parents, volunteers, and counselors will be in the cafeteria hall building. Dinner is included for all registered campers and parents staying on site. For everyone else, the cost of dinner will be $8.
8:00 PM – 9:30 PM
Halquist hall (Duck Room)
At this time the campers and parents will split up to have their respective orientations. The counselor team will explain the camp rules to the campers as well as hold “get to know you” games so campers become acquainted with each other and their seva group counselors.
Members of the Sikh Virsa organizing team will hold a separate orientation for parents that will cover Camp Sikh Virsa’s philosophy as well as the Adult Requests and Expectations. Brief descriptions of the classes and activities will be conveyed as well.
Snacks & Settling In
9:30 PM – 10:00 PM
Snacks will be provided for the campers after orientation and just before bedtime. Parents who are not staying for the duration of camp are encouraged to leave camp shortly thereafter so campers can become actively involved in the camp program right away. If you suspect your child may become homesick, please don’t delay your departure from camp—he or she will be in good hands.
Counselors will lead Sohila Sahib and campers will go to bed.
